RTOS/MSP432E401Y: MSP432E401Y & TI-RTOS Networking

Part Number: MSP432E401Y
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SIMPLELINK-MSP432-SDK

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

I would like to use MSP432E401Y with TI-RTOS and an IP stack - preferably TI-RTOS Networking (formaly NDK).

In a few articles about TI-RTOS I found it is stated that TI-RTOS Networking does not support the MSP432.

However on the SIMPLELINK-MSP432-SDK page it is alluded that NDK can be used (see attached).

Could you please clarify If I will be able to use TI NDK (that is TI-RTOS Networking) on MSP432E401Y or is it that I have to use NDK & lwIP or lwIP only?

Thank you

Kind regards:

Jack

  • Hello Jack,

The SimpleLink MSP432E4 SDK includes two TCP/IP stacks - NDK and lwIP. Only one of these TCP/IP stacks can be used in your application - not both.

I am not sure what articles you are referring to, but I could guess that those articles might be referring to MSP432P4 family.

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Hi Sai,

Thank you very much for your response. It is great to hear that the MSP432E family is supported by TI-RTOS Networking (NDK).

One of the articles that I was referring to is  sprt646a (attached). Table 2 in that article indicates that Wired networking, Drivers and Instrumentation are not supported for the MSP432 families.

I assume this article is outdated now.

Can you point me to an up to date article, datasheet, any document that outlines what features for what families the current version of TI-RTOS supports?

    Thank you:

  • Hello Jack,

The article you pointed to is quite outdated. We have put in a request to update it.

In the mean time the best starting point for the SimpleLink platform is:

To get to MSP432 device page, click on "Wired" under "Product Tree".

    Thanks,

    Sai
