CCS/MSP430FR5994: Current flowing into Ref+ input

Part Number: MSP430FR5994
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1200

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear Sirs:

I have a low power application using cc1200 and an FR5992.  Seems to have low power using the evaluation board but the pc board is running at about 80ma when it should be less than 10.  There is a 10 ohm resistor from pin 2 (Vref+) to VCC.  The drop across it is .28V indicating 28ma.  This can't be right.  Am not now initializing the reference registers.

Also DVSS1 (pin 48 of 5992) is drawing about 8ma thru a 10 ohm resistor and DVCC2 is drawing about 14ma thru a 10 ohm resistor.

What do you think is my problem?

Thanks,

John Moore

  • Dear Sirs:

Well, found the main problem.  The pcboard connected 3.3V to P1.1 (VREF+) and ground to P1.0 (VREF-).   Plus the code had these two pins configured as

outputs to drive the leds that are on the eval board.  So duh, a stupid mistake.  I just panicked and it wasn't time to panic yet.
