Hello All,

eZ430-Chronos-915

Can this watch read and/or act as an RFID tag (does the frequency of the in built radio accommodate if not are there any parts that would allow it) also would the software with a number of code hours?

Hello Daniel,

First, our eZ430-CHRONOS is not recommended for new designs. With that being said, I don't believe that the 915MHz frequency could be used for/as an RFID tag. Looking at our TRF devices, RFID seems to be around 13MHz. I would encourage you to take a look at our NFC and RFID products in the link below.

Hello again,

As a follow-up, I spoke to our RFID expert, and they highlighted that you're probably asking about using eZ430-CHRONOS to read Ultra-high Frequency (UHF) RFID tags. Our NFC and RFID products and software is only for High-Frequency (HF) RFID tags and readers. Although it should be possible to implement UHF RFID on the eZ430-CHRONOS, we don't have any software or references for this, so the effort on your part would be substantial.

could the current hardware handle this or would modification have to be done at the hardware level also would there be any wearables that could support rfid use?

I'm not sure. You'd have to test it, since the eZ430-CHRONOS was not originally designed for these types of UHF RFID applications.
