MSP430FR5739: Does Console output available for MSP430FR5739

Part Number: MSP430FR5739

Hi,

I am using MSP430FR5739 with IAR.

I am going to some simple calculations. I would like to ask followings:

(Q1) I would like to know if there is console output available so that I can monitor my algorithm?

(Q2) Also, is it possible for MSP wait for user key in value from keyboard in the console and do processing?

Regards,

LB

  • What keyboard? One on the PC or one attached to the MCU?

You can certainly set up a console. Is this a launchpad? It might have one built in.
  • 1) yes
    2) yes, both a button on your board or, if you plan to expect a char from UART, also yes
  • Hello LB,

If you have the MSP430FR5739 Launchpad, I think the best way for your to monitor your algorithm and also use keyboard as the user input will be using UART TX to stream the data out to the back channel UART on the Launchpad and UART RX to receive data from the PC keyboard. The data can be viewed and also the user can enter the input through any type of serial communication terminal like Putty.

    Thanks,
    Yiding
