MSP430FG6626: MSP430FG6626IPZ USB driver

Part Number: MSP430FG6626
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430USBDEVPACK

I have a customer using the MSP430FG6626 in an application.

When using Windows 10, the USB drivers are automatically installed.

However, when trying to connect to a system with Windows 7 installed, it appears drivers need to be manually installed to have the system recognize the device.

Are there drivers (CDC or VCOM) available for Windows 7?

Thanks.

  • Hello Greg,

The USB should come up as a standard CDC interface for Windows 10. In between the different Windows versions this was changed and for older versions you need to provide an INF file for CDC. To generate this, your customer will need to download the MSP430USBDEVPACK , in particular they need to download and use the USB Descriptor Tool to generate the appropriate file. More information is contained within the USB DEv Pack documentation.
