MSP430F2370: BSL (Firmware Update)

Part Number: MSP430F2370
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF7970A, , CC2640R2F

Hi,

We are using MSP430F2370 with TRF7970A for MIFARE card support in our system.

Wants to update firmware of MSP430F2370 via UART(BSL). Only one option is available for firmware upgrade. Am I right?

Nordic nRF52832 is host controller in our system so will update firmware of MSP through Nordic.

Not able to download sample code from link given in above document: software-dl.ti.com/.../MSPBSL_Programmer_Package.zip

Can we integrate sample code in nordic?

Ref: www.ti.com/.../slau319t.pdf

Will use below hardware connection for that. Is it ok?

Thanks,

Nirav Patel

    Correct.

Basically, yes (with some work). Alternatively, I would highly recommend using our new CC2640R2F device. Why? Well it supports BLE5 AND the UART BSL code has already been done for this device. This would save you time having to port the code to the Nordic host. Regardless, please refer to the following related resources. After downloading the source code, please be sure to read the Manifest, which includes the BSD-3-CLAUSE license. A quick summary of what's expected for this type of license can be found here.

    MSP430™ Bootloader With SimpleLink™ MCUs

MSP430™ Bootloader With Sitara™ Embedded Linux Host (not necessarily applicable since you're not running Linux but it's a good reference)

Thanks for including the diagram and document section in your post - it helps know what you're talking about and where it came from. This diagram includes circuitry for translating from UART to RS-232 and perhaps level-shifting. For your application, assuming that the host MCU is operating at the same supply voltage as the MSP430F2370, you just need the dedicated pins for BSL entry sequence.
