MSP430AFE253: MSP430AFE253 MSP-GANG issue

Part Number: MSP430AFE253
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-GANG

Hi, now our customer meet same questions as follow, pls help to check it and give same suggestions how to debug it ,tks!

When MSP430AFE253 program is programmed with MSP-GANG Programmer, if the DCO calibration function is turned on, the programmer will erase INFO-A. After the calibration is finished, the calibration data cannot be rewritten into the chip INFO-A, and a programming error occurs. we can see about  7 pieces of  MSP430AFE253 will occur unable to calibrate the DCO chip, never calibrate, DCO data will be lost

  • Hello Darren,

Thanks for your detailed post. Can you also share a screenshot of the Memory Options window (click "Memory option" to the left of "Results" section in MSP-GANG GUI)? I've attached a screenshot of mine.

ERROR 41 indicates that the GANG flash write failed. Can you confirm that the "including locked INFO-A" option under "Information Memory Segments" was selected?

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi James

the screenshot of the Memory Options window as follows, pls help check it,tks!

  • Make sure you're not exceeding the current supply limits of the MSP-GANG. Perhaps the supply voltage is dropping below the recommended levels for programming the device. Also, try slowing down the SBW speed. It sounds like it's a system level issue rather than an issue with MSP-GANG, since it's only happened on 7 devices. How many devices have been successfully programmed?

    James
