Hi TI!

I need to have two ethernet port in my design. Can I achive it with MSP432E401Y ?

Is it possible to get one PHY port from MSP432E401Y directly and the second PHY through MII or RMII interface of MSP.

Alternatively I can get one PHY from MSP and the second from external SPI MAC+PHY controller.

What is the right way? Could you please recommmend...

Hello Timur,

The EMAC module on MSP432E401Y only supports one PHY, either internal or external. So I am afraid you cannot get two PHY connections to this device.

You alternative solution of using an external MAC+PHY controller might work.

Please ensure (atleast theoritically) that data throughput requirements of your project can be met with solution.

Hello Timur,

Since the Ethernet MAC controller on MSP432E4 is a single MAC controller, we don't think you can attach two PHYs at once on MSP432E4 (and TM4C129).

We haven't tested the Ping Pong configuration so can't comment on whether it is possible or not.
