Future Value Line CPUs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2274

One  thing that always bothered me about the launchpad was that it didn't have a UART like other MSP430s. I have been wondering the past few months when the 20 pin devices would surface, and if they would have UART and/or other new features.

I just saw this page here. http://www.ti.com/ww/en/mcu/valueline/index.shtml?DCMP=Value_Line&HQS=Other+BA+430value-promo

It says that we will have new value line CPUs at some point.

Do any of you TI employees know when the new devices will become available and what feature combinations they might have?

There are some projects I have in mind to port to the lauchpad (if it had UART, etc), which I can then give away or sell to some of my friends to get them interested in the MSP430.

  • Hi Bill,

why don't you add a second PCB (some call the 'shields') to your Launchpad(s) (i.e. with an MSP430F2274 and all the additional hardware (LCD, pots, maybe some serial storage,..) you need) instead of waiting until TI releases new products?

Launchpad should be able to program all devices with Spy-Bi-Wire (that's what the TI white paper and the docu says about it). Since I'm still waiting (for quite some time) for my launchpads to arrive I couldn't test (and do) it so far.
