CCS/MSP-EXP430FR6989: Runtime Object Viewer

Part Number: MSP-EXP430FR6989

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear TI,

my config:
CCS v8.1.0
compliper TI v16.9.8LTS
TI-TOS v2.20.0.06
XDCtools v3.32.2.25
MPU disabled
IPE disabled.

I have tried to run Runtime Object Viewer and I have obtained a failure.

xdc.rov.monserver has been introduced with XDCtools v3.50.x.xx.

Issue is that XDCtools v3.50.x.xx is not compatible with TI-TOS v2.20.0.06 for MSP430.

Did I missed something or should I try to experiment with an earlier versions of CCS, v7.4.0 for example?

Thanks!

  • Tomasz,

Do you have 3.50 installed also? Runtime Object View should be pulling that one in behind the curtain. Don't use 3.50 with your application though. TI-RTOS 2.20 needs XDCtools 3.32.xx.

  • Todd,

    I did as follows:

    1. uninstalled all 3.50.x.x using   Window -> Preferences -> CCS -> Products

    Reference to the xdc.rov.monserver exists.

    2. deleted all dirs containing 3.50.x.x XDCtools

    As above.

    3. uninstalled all 3.32.x.x, deleted them from HDD and installed 3.32.00.06

    The same.

    4. Switched from CCS 8.1.4 to 7.4.0

    The same.

I just started scanning the c:/ti/ccs7 folder for all files containing xdc.rov.monserver string.
If I obtain too many files I would be lost.

Do you have any idea how to fix it?

    Thanks!

  • Can you confirm that ROV classic works properly?

Can you please delete CCS 8.1.4 and re-install it? Then import the empty example from TI-RTOS and build/load it. Does Runtime Object View work with this? If it does, great. If it does not, do not change anything and post the error message here.

    Todd
  • Note: you need to have CCS 8.1.4 discover TI-RTOS for MSP43x first. This should occur the first time you open ccs.
  • Todd,

below the output of scanning of the c:/ti/ccs7:

I have only 4 files on the list.

    The rov_server.js concerns.

  • I cannot confirm that ROV classic works properly.
    I can say: It works!

I am using CCS 8.1.0 Version: 8.1.0.00011 issued Jun 13, 2018 which is the newest ver. publicly available.
I do understand that when you refer to CCS 8.1.4 I should deal with my 8.1.0.

I will kill my CCS 8.1.0 and follow your instructions.

It is 1 a.m. my local time.
Please expect my answers today :-)
  • Todd,

    having:

    CCS 8.0.0 in c:/ti/ccs8 dir

CCS 8.1.0 in c:/ti/ccs810 dir  which is an option during installation

    I have  re-installed CCS 8.1.0.

    Then I have found xdctools_3_32_02_25_core and xdctools_3_50_07_20_core in c:/ti/ccs810,
however CCS 8.1.0 products discovery path points to c:/ti only.

rov_server.js at line 640 still points to xdc.rov.monserver.

TI-RTOS and others were automatically discovered except XDCtools 3.32.0.06 which is older than newly installed 3.32.02.25.

An empty example was created with XDCtools 3.32.0.06 and was automatically defaulted to xdctools_3_32_02_25_core.

I had to install C/C++ v16.9.8LTS by hand.

    ROV shines!

I have no idea why Project -> Properties and ROV windows show different xdctools versions.

    Thanks a lot!
