MSP430FR5738: Programming fails in IAR

Part Number: MSP430FR5738
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, UNIFLASH

Hello MSP430 team,

I have a customer with a custom board with the MSP430FR5738. It seems that when programming the device with IAR and the MSP-FET, the MSP430 enters some sort of error state: debugger halts on UnexpectedInterruptTrap at 0x00FFFA.

However they have found that using an MSP-FET430UIF, with IAR happens to work fine, and the customer has also used Uniflash to successfully program the MSP430FR5738 with the MSP-FET tool.

Somewhat interestingly once the board has been programmed through Uniflash, the customer can successfully load and debug programs through IAR, but once the board is reset, then the same error pops up again.

Customer has also verified this issue occurs with a standard driverlib example for the MSP430.

Any idea on what the differences between IAR and Uniflash could be that could  cause such issues?

Regards,

Munan
