Hi,
Would it be possible to estimate the water temperature using the absTOF ?

Hi Thibault,
as already indicated in the previous posts, on one hand this related to physics, and on the other hand though in principle this is possible, one has to consider also other parameters, as not only temperature is influencing the speed of acoustic waves in water. Please consult specific literature for more information. To give you an indication, please find here a formula from the WIKIpedia.
For exact measurements the influencing factors must be quantified. A simplified formula for sonar is e.g.:
c = speed of acoustic wave (m/s)
T = water temperature(°C)
S = salt concentration (‰) means also mineral consistence is influencing the speed
D = depth (m) this translates to pressure as influencing factor
this empirical formula is valid for 0 °C < T < 40 °C and 0 ‰ < S < 40 ‰
Best regards
Peter
