MSP430FR6989: About custom BSL

Part Number: MSP430FR6989

Hello

I want to program FRAM custom BSL. However, I have never created a custom BSL.
Is there any reference application?
Or is there default BSL program software?

Regards.

  • Hi,

There are several good postings here in the E2E forum that can help.

Here [link] is one to get you started.

  • Hello

    Thank you for your reply.

I am considering the front lines of what you linked.

I am considering creating custom BSL. Communication with the host uses UART.
I'm thinking of incorporating custom BSL and executable program into one segment.

For example, in segment 1 write:
    Custom BSL 0x4400 - 0x46FF
    Execution program 0x4700 - 0xFF00

When rewriting occurs, I want to rewrite the execution program at address 0x4700 and later from the custom BSL placed at 0x4400.
In consideration of the problem occurrence, I will alternate between existing programs and new programs rewritten with custom BSL in segments 2 and 3. We are considering writing a new program to the execution program area of segment 1.
    Is this possible?

    I got MSP430FRBoot_1_01_00_00.
Is it possible to modify this to use the above?
In that case, there are three folders in the Target> FR 6989 _ UART folder.
    - App1_MSPBoot
    - App1_MSPBoo2
    - MSPBoot
Is it possible to divert any of them?
I'm sorry but please tell me.

    Regards.
  • Hi,

let me repeat this to make sure I got your scheme correctly.
Custom BSL is located in 0x4400 which is the start of main memory. If this is the case, the BSL is going to be executed every time the device is reset. is this intended?

Placing the execution program could be anywhere using BSL. BSL command is described in http://www.ti.com/lit/slau550 . The data packet is started with the address where the data byte is going to be written.

I guess the segment 2 and segment 3 are other section than the execution program location?
