MSP430FR5969: BSL not working

It looks like you aren't getting any ACKs at all.   The only thing I could suggest is to try switching the Rx and Tx lines and see if that helps.  Otherwise, it seems it should work.

If Tx and Rx are right, then it appears that BSL is not being invoked.  In my experience, Scripter gives that same error message when it gets no ACK back at all.  If you have a scope, it might make sense to see what's happening on /Reset and Test to see if the pattern looks like the one shown in slau550p.pdf.

Not sure why your fellow TI'ers haven't responded, unless maybe it's because your posts are pinned.

did you check the factors that prevent HW BSL invocation described in slau550:

The BSL is not started by the BSL RESET vector if:
• There are fewer than two negative edges at TCK pin while RST/NMI is low.
• TESTis high if RST/NMI rises from low to high.
• JTAG has control over the MSP430 MCU resources.
• The supply voltage, VCC, drops below its threshold, and a power-on reset (POR) is executed.
• The RST/NMI pin is configured for NMI functionality (the NMI bit is set).

As mentioned by George a scope shot of the BSL entry sequence and TX/RX would be very helpful.

did you maybe disabled the BSL by writing on 0xFF84 and 0xFF86 as described in the users guide?

I just used your scripter to run the BSL loading. I didn't disable the BSL unless your scripter did something wrong. Thanks.

your target is a launch pad right can you connect it to JTAG and read memory to see the locations above are not written?
Alternativly can you please trace TEST, RST, RX and TX with scope to see how the signals are looking like.

I used uniflash to verify that the flash is not written. And actually the latest scripter has some bugs and I used the previous version and the error message went away. However, the memory is still not written. Have you run any script with the scripter on MSP430FR5969 launchpad? Can you reproduce my issue? Thanks.

I tried with MSPBSL_Scripter 3_03_00_00 and with MSPBSL_Scripter 3_04_00_01.
I selected the COM port of the application UART but it does not work for both. I checked TEST and RST and did found the BSL invoke entry sequence.
Will check with BSL stake holders what's wrong and will come back to you in the next days.

I tried both BSL Scripter versions with following supported interfaces:
- BSL Rocket RevB -> both scripter version worked
- MSP-USB FET (Backchannel UART) -> both scripter version worked

These at least are the offical supported and tested tools according product webpage "Supported programming adapters are the MSP-BSL programmer ('BSL Rocket') and the MSP-FET." The ez-430 FET is not mentioned there but the interface is there so I will check.

based on   the ez430 debug tools does not support the BSL mode.

I used MSP-FET which supports "Supports all programmable MSP430 and CC430 devices".  I followed the set up in this user guide on figure 10 with MSP430FR5969 launchpad.

Can you please try with this setup and see if you can successfully load your code with scripter?

this the revision of the Launchpad so I would assume the device mounted on the board is RevF. Can you pls do following  2 things:

1. send me the marking of the device you want to program

2. try the blinking LED example script with your setup

If the part is Rev F and also the blinking LED sample does not work with the scripter either you FET or your device is damaged (I would assume). In such a case I strongly recommend to measure TEST, RST, TX and RX with a scope to look at the signals checking if invoke sequence looks ok.

the script and the blinkLED code can be found in your BSL scripter installation folder:

C:\BSL\BSL_Scripter_Windows_3.02.00.00\ScriptExample\FRxx_uart

You can use this and try it. You also can try to not supply the LaunchPad via  FET but supply it external and try voltage around 2.2 or 3.6V to see if you can get it running.
