MSP430G2553: MSP430G2553: UNIQUE ID

Hi Satya,

as far as I understood you, you're looking for a unique ID for each of the different dies that are manufactured, depicting the lot, position on the wafer etc.
We provide this kind of ID in some of our device families, such as the MSP430F5xx, but unfortunately not for the MSP430G2553 class of devices.
In case your looking for it on other devices, too, this information can be found in the device datasheet, section "Device Descriptors" where there is a table including the "Die Record".
I'm sorry I can't help your with regards to the MSP430G2553 though.

Is it possible with MSP-GANG programmer to incorporate the serial number for device(MSP430G2553)? if any method is there to incorporate serial number please because we are developing  security project to identify each device.

Are you talking about putting the device name, i.e. MSP430G2553, into the memory? 

As said before per default the MSP430G2553 does not contain the unique device ID and there is also no way for you to program it as we can't provide you the unique IDs of the MSP430G2553 devices we're shipping.

Please let me know in case you are actually trying to do something different than I understood.

Hi Satya,

one option could be to write the serial number into segment A of the information memory.

You'll find the description of how to do so in the Flash Controller section of the MSP430x2xx Family User's Guide.

The reason why Segment A could be preferred over other segments is that it is locked separately from all other segments and thus offer some extra protection against unintended writes. Please check the documentation for the exact details.
