CCS/MSP430G2553: CCS v8 never progresses beyond "Downloading all features..........."

Greetings:

I am attempting to re-install CCS v8 in order to start working with a MSP430G2553 Launchpad kit that I have. I had a previous installation of CCS for the MSP432 and CC1350 launchpads, but after experiencing the first "hang", I removed those installations entirely ( manually, by deleting their directories as the uninstall seemed to hang as well).

Everything seems to progress just fine until "Downloading all features...". This continues to just add '.' characters every so often, but Task Manager (Windows 10) doesn't indicate any network traffic . This just continues on forever it seems. I have begun pairing back the list of feature to install to my bare minimum set (CC1350,MSP430, and CC1350) but still no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could be?

Download offline installer.
Disconnect network interfaces.
Run installer with with an admin privilege.

I had the same problem with the CCS 8.2 Windows online installer - see CCS/EVMK2H: CCS 8.2 Windows online installer ccs_setup_8.2.0.00007 hangs at "Downloading all features".

In the referenced thread I was asked to zip up the workspace and configuration folder from the failed installation, but that didn't provide any clue about the error. Can you see if the ccs_<guid>\workspace\.metadata directory from the failed installation contains a .log file?

I had to use the offline installer to be able to install CCS 8.2 on Windows 10.

Thanks guys! It just finished installing. Although I haven't built anything with it yet, I think it's going to work now.

Glad you did.
When installing CCS and asked for a destination folder, select something like: c:\ti\ccs820, c:\ti\ccs800, etc.
It will allow you to keep several CCS versions simultaneously and avoid an update headache.
Never use a particular workspace with two CCS versions.
