Hi ,

I am using MSP430FR59941 MCU for one project and TM4C123BE6PM for another. I want to append CRC into output bin file for these two MCU'S. I was able to find a method for TM4C but not for MSP430. I am using CCS V7.0.

Can anybody help me on this?

I am asking around to see if something like this is available in CCS. Also, I found the post below which indicates that IAR supports this already. There was also mention of a Srecord tool in this thread that might work for you. I will let you know what I hear regarding doing this in CCS.

The TI MSP430 code generation tools are documented as supporting Linker-Generated CRC Tables. Does that meet your use case?

Hi Chester Gillon,

This helps if i want to validate CRC checksum in application but i want to validate CRC checksum in customized boot loader code.So this doesn't help here.

Hello Anup,

I have confirmed that CCS does not offer such a binpack feature for MSP430.

Would the Srecord tool I mentioned earlier work for you?

A couple additional options are:

* MSP430FRBoot which includes the utility CRCGen430 (in .exe and source code), to calculate the CRC of an MSP430 .txt file: www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slaa721

* Elprotronic FET-Pro430-Lite also has support for CRC: "Defined Check Sum calculation (Sum, CRC16, CRC32). Up to four CS banks can be specified.": https://www.elprotronic.com/

Yes, I have used CRCGen430 utility for .txt file but i needed this for .bin file not for .txt.

However i used srec_cat.exe utility and resolved this issue. With this utility i was able to append image CRC at the beginning of image(.bin).
