MSP430F5659: MSP430F5659-RAM Issue

please provide information on your debugging tool, the IDE and IDE version.
In case your not using the latest version, please update the IDE version and re-try.
Can you post a screenshot of the error message you see?

Tool:- IAR Embedded Workbench IDE-MSP430 7.12.1.

After flashing the code in MSP430F5659  we didn't get any control to debug the code. Please check the attachment for reference.

Hi Krishna,

can you have a look at the Extended Clock Control settings (after starting the Debug session please go to Emulator-> Advanced -> Clock Control) and check if the LCD will be stopped with breakpoints or continue to run?
You could post a screenshot of the settings here again.

Besides, could the LCD coordinates be out of range? Just out of curiosity, would coordinates for a 400 x 239 pixel size work?

Checked as per your suggestions

1) Changed LCD pixels  with 400*239 ---It's not working refer Error.jpeg

    1 a) Checked clock control observation is attached refer Error.jpeg (I didn't get any control to debug the code).

2) Changed LCD pixels with 400*90 --- It's working refer working.jpeg (I'm able to debug).

I wonder if you're running into the watchdog timeout described in IAR #37778:

They describe 4KB as "large" (and you have about 12KB). They mention DATA_I, but DATA_Z has to be written as well.

Can you please tell me what all have to be updated and along with their values.

We are not running under watchdog timer please check attachment

As TN #37778 explains (see link above), this is a watchdog timeout that happens before you reach main(), because C library initialization takes too long.

Per the TN, there is a library file low_level_init.c which contains the code executed prior to initializing .data and .bss, and you turn off the watchdog there.

It's a pretty simple change once you find that .c file. I haven't used IAR for some time, so some of the names may have changed, but I think the idea is the same.

Hi Krishna,

while I'm still checking internally what might be your issue, did you check Bruce's latest indication that your initialization might take to long so that your Watchdog timeout happens? You could try his guidance on disabling the WDT in the low_level_init.c to check if that makes a difference.

I checked Bruce's indication and changed low_level_init.c file as per Bruce's suggestion it's working fine. I'm able to debug the code and executed.
