MSP430FR2355: Double check some spec for smoke detector

Part Number: MSP430FR2355

Hi

My customer is evaluating MSP430FR2355 for smoke detector. There are some spec need to double check.

1. What's the ADC internal reference precision at whole temperature range?

Datasheet is +-1.5% at free-air temperature. Customer target is +-1%, this determines whether an external voltage reference is required.

2. What's the DCO precision at whole temperature range? Is +-2%?

Does smoke detector must have to add a additional XT1?

3. Is there a ROM driver library user guide and example?

4. It has a infrared modulation on chip. Which application need this function? While smoke detector also use a infrared tubes to transmit.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Daniel,

    1. The specification you are looking at is over the recommended operating temperature range since it is not specified otherwise. The operating temperature range of this device is -40C to 105C free air.

    2. Yes, the specification you reference is from -40C to 105C free air temperature. If they require higher accuracy for their application, then a external crystal can provide this.

    3. See section 7.3 of the datasheet(4th bullet point).

    4. Infrared could be used for many applications that need a low cost line of sight communication interface.
