CCS/MSP430FR2000: Memory usage to be improved

Hello

My customer is testing MSP430FR2000.
It seems they are very quickly overrun their memory capacity and looking forward to test MSP430FR2100.
Although they still worried, that the memory is maybe full because they compile unnecessary data, like unused interrupt vector maps etc.

What would be the best guideline you can recommend, so they can review what is going on in CCS?

Hello Gabor,

do they really do not use the maskable interrupts?

An option for them is MSP430FR2111 which has 4 KB FRAM. It is 8x then MSP430FR2000.
MSP430FR2000 cost is $0.29 @ 1ku while MSP430FR2111 is $0.29 @ 1ku.
Do they use assembler?
If they plan design for 100k or 1M units its is worth to consider an assembler programming.

Hi Gabor,

What did you mean that "so they can review what is going on in CCS"?
Did the customer want to review the device memory usage in CCS or want to optimize the compiled code size to match the memory size of device?

They are not experienced users of CCS (neither me) and they are not sure, what are the files compiled and loaded to the memory.
So first of all they would like to optimize what is loaded.

Hi Gabor,

For the code size optimization, you can refer this application note : www.ti.com/.../slaa801.pdf
But could you check with customer how much memory size do they left?

As for default, the compiled output file is loaded in the CCS project->Debug.
