MSP430G2553: Code for built-in program on MSP430G2ET LaunchPad?

Hi there,

Where can I find the code for the program already Flashed into the device on the MSP430G2ET LaunchPad?

I removed the device and plugged it into a breadboard, along with power, ground and an LED+resistor on Pin 1.0, but it didn't flash like it did on the LaunchPad, so I'm wondering if there's another dependency.

I found the code and schematics for the new G2ET board.

On my breadboard I verified proper 3.3V, ground, and that the LED and resistor combo work on 3.3V before moving it to P1.0 (pin 2).

I also pulled up P1.3 (pin 5) to VCC to make sure it didn't see a button press (and go into Application Mode) in case the internal pull up wasn't working, but it still doesn't flash the LED, what am I missing?

Jason,

I think you're missing the pull-up and decoupling capcitor on the RST line. It's show in the Pushbuttons section of the schematic.

Without this, the RST pin is floating, and the device may be held in reset.

Thanks JD, that was it! I'll never forget the reset pin now... =)
One more question, do you know if this default program is loaded onto all of the parts when shipped or just the devices on the LaunchPads?

Hey Jason,

Glad it was a easy fix!

The Out of box code is only programmed on the launchpad devices. Standard devices are shipped blank and will need to be programmed.
