About the specification of -v
I am inquired about MSPFlasher from my customers.
Please tell me about the followings.

<Question>
The "-v" is doing is verifying that the checksum of the MCU ROM matches the checksum of "filename"
Is this correct?

Or is it verifying the contents of the MCU ROM and data of "filename", one by one?

Hello Cruijff,
the "-v" option enables the verification of the content the device against the content of the given file. This option can be used to make sure that the programming of the MCU was successful.

Hi Cruijff,

the MSPFlasher uses the MSP debug stack to verify the memory.

his verification process is described the the document SLAU320 (www.ti.com/.../slau320) in chapter 2.3.7.

It uses a CRC like algorithm that is integrated into the MSP hardware. The device calculates a checksum value using the data in the device memory that will be read out and compared with a value calculated with the same algorithm on the PC with data from the file you've specified.
