MSP430F5659: MSP430F5659 NSR Lower on newer model?

Hello,

I am using the MSP430 to drive audio tones into a headset. The problem was the white noise when no audio was being output. I traced the source of this noise back to MSP430(Pin 3 P6.6/CB6/A5/DA0). I ended up

replacing the MSP430 with a newer version and the noise out of the same configuration was non-existent. I performed this update on four separated boards with the same outcome. Is there a difference from

the two versions I have listed below? Or possibly an update I can reference?

OLD#: MSP430 F56595 AAKGOT B

NEW#: MSP430 F5659 77CRSGT B

Hi Chris,

both have same die revision but are from different production time frame. But they should behave identical. To what P6.6 is configured in you application?

This is the function I am using to set P6.6.

GPIO_setAsPeripheralModuleFunctionOutputPin(GPIO_PORT_P6, GPIO_PIN6);

Hi Chris,

so you use this pin as ADC input pin right? Does it mean you see the noise already on the ADC conversion results?

Is the neighboured pin P6.7 as DAC output pin? If yes do you only see the noise when DAC is varying the output signal?
