MSP430FR6989: quectel mc60 gsm interface with MSP430

Part Number: MSP430FR6989
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

Hi,

Iam planning to make a project which involves GPS and GSM ive decided to use the Quectel MC60 for this purpose.

Can anyone here guide me on how to achieve this like the libraries required, interfaces, references, example codes on Energia.

Thanks

  • Hi,
    i am not the expert on the GSM module but what you can try is to use the library available in Arduino.
    So if you download Arduino you will find in the library folder the GSM library. Simply copy this over to your Energia home folder and into the library folder there.
    You then can open and start with the GSM library in Energia.
    Some note for the first debugging steps and error you may see:
    swap the order of
    #include <HardwareSerial.h>
    #include <Arduino.h>
    to
    #include <Arduino.h>
    #include <HardwareSerial.h>
    -> HardwareSerial.h uses defines from Arduino.h

    in GSM3ShieldV1.h added
    #ifdef ID
    #undef ID
    #endif
    after #include <Arduino.h>
    -> ID is a defined used by a MSP430 peripheral.

    Then you need to update the SoftwareSerial functions as this are hardcoded for AVR.

  • Thank you very much for the response stefan.
    I some how figured out a way to communicate with the GSM using uart and with AT commands using serial.print to make calls and send sms.
    I shall try this method too and let you know. Again thank you for the response.
  • Hi,
    thanks for the update. So let me close this thread.
    You can open it again with adding another response or also start a new one.

    Regards,
    Stefan
