Greetings.

I'm evaluating FR6043 kit, out-of-box firmware and USS demo application with default configuration. I have a couple of questions:

0. Where do I find the schematics for the kit?

1. How do I configure the kit for 1MHz ultrasonic transducers? Maximum allowed frequency in USS design center app is 550kHz, although the documentation states that transducers up to 2.5MHz can be used.

2. I tried building USS Gas Demo firmware with USS_F1_FREQ set to 1000000. This does seem to produce 1MHz pulse, but I don't see any signal on the second transducer

Hello John,

The FR6043 kit out of the box is intended for gas meters, which are operating up to 500kHz. The kit can also be modified to work for water flow at 1MHz as well though. If you are using the kit for water, please see the required modification below. Water does not require the extra amplification AFE used for gas. Please note that you will want to use the water software example as well. See below link. You should use the demo application download if you will be using with the GUI.

In order to use the EVM430-FR6043 for water flow, please replace R75 and R80 with 1000pF cap, replace R77 and R78 with 200 ohm resistor, and place 0 ohm resistors on R76 and R79. After these changes, this will be the same as the setup for MSP430FR6047. Please see the jumper placement in the attached image. Also, please note that you connect the transducers on J9 where the outside pins are ground. If you are using USB power, you also want to include jumpers on J2 and J4(right position) and put the switch in the middle position.

John,

Typically gas metering is not possible at 1MHz due to a high attenuation. Typically, gas metering is done with 200kHz to 500kHzas this will have a much lower attenuation.

You could certainly try to measure gas at 1MHz by setting up your board as I described for water. You will also need to load the water firmware since the gas firmware does not support 1MHz. It is unlikely you will be able to measure a useable signal though. If I try to get an ADC capture with a 1MHz pipe filled with air(no water), the signal is mostly noise. Methane and other types of gas will just attenuate the signal further.

Is there a specific reason you want to use 1MHz for gas instead of the typical frequencies?

I want to use the EVM430-FR6043 for water flow. So I modified the firmware to support my custom configuration.

Before modification(gas mode)：

But after I revised it, I had the following problem：

The device cannot be identified after modifying the firmware.

Thanks, Eddie, I'll give it a try.

We don't have a strict requirement to use 1MHz sensors - at the moment we are evaluating different sensors against various pipe designs.

After these changes,I try re-flashing the device by water demo(UltrasonicWaterFR604x_02_20_00_04_windows_installer)
but it's always show "waiting for device". How did you solve this problem?
