MSP-FET: FET tool two wire method

Part Number: MSP-FET
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2274,

Team,

My customer has the following question:

We are using MSP-FET programmer to load SW on the MSP430F2274 on our circuit card. We use the two wires method. From the SLAU278AD – May 2009 – Revised June 2018, C1 is needed for the two-wire method to work. We would like to understand the reason for C1 and how to determine the value of C1.

Regards,

Aaron

  • Hi,

    1. As we recommend, C1 should be lower than 2.2nF. If you can ensure the signal is stable and certain, it can be removed.

    2. The function of C1 is used to make the signal of rst more stable. You can see that rst signal and SBWTDIO signal share the same pin. If C1 choose a value of 0.1uF, the signal rise time will not meet the timing requirement of SBWTDIO. The voltage on SBWTDIO may not complete digital Level establishment in half clock cycle.
