Using the Python BSL USB bootloader. I am trying to download the .txt file generated from the release output of IAR. This firmware
works and can be downloaded via JTAG and the FET. Using the Python app I hang as shown:
It never comes out of this state.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a try the software and that works well with MSP430F5529 launchpad. One thing you should be careful is the hardware connection you can compare with the MSP430F5529 launchpad and the other is the format of .TXT, is that TI style?
