MSP430G2755: LFXT faults

Part Number: MSP430G2755

Hi MSP430 team.

Using the MSP430G2755, I am facing what looks to be a LFXT fault.

around 0.1% of the parts doesnt work, my best guess is that this is due to the XOSC5 errata.

Whats the recommandations for a workaround here?

The part doesnt seems to work at all, so my best guess is that the LFXT doesnt work and the part stops due to a failing 32kHz krystal.

  • Hi Anders,

    Could you kindly help share more details or behaviors about the failure? what's the phenomenon you're seeing?

  • After programming the part doesnt startup, I expect this due to shift to a 32kHz crystal thats stalled. The part cant be reprogrammed, and there is no contact when using JTAG.
  • could you try below steps on those failed parts, they're helpful to figure out the reason,
    (1) debug those parts with JTAG and check whether they are really stalled in the fault check loop;
    if yes,
    check the soldering and watch the oscillation waveform at XIN or XOUT pins(you can share me with the waveform amplitude and frequency)
    if no,
    run the code to check where it's stalled and analyze the code.
  • Hi Anders,

    I didn't see any feedback from last reply so I suppose your issue has been resolved; you can share your question any time in the future, now I temporarily close this thread.
