MSP430FR5969: MSP430FR5969 PJ port during spy-bi-wire operation

Part Number: MSP430FR5969

Hello there!

We have a question related to the pins PJ.0:PJ.3 of the MSP430FR5969:

We use the spy-bi-wire functionality to operate with the microcontroller. During the JTAG operation, I catch that the PJ port is configured as JTAG pins and their GPIO functionality is disabled. But, working with the spy-bi-wire configuration, PJ pins are also disabled as GPIO? We would like to use them as digital output and we don't find a clear explanation in the datasheet/user guide (or we don't understand it). It would be interesting to know if we can work with them during debugging.

Thank you very much for your time.

  • Hello,
the intention of the Spy-Bi-Wire interface is, that you do not loose any functionality of other GPIOs/Pins during code download and debugging. Thus the JTAG pins, if Spy-Bi-Wire is being used, are not switched to JTAG function, and thus can be used for the non debugging GPIO or module functionality.

    Best regards
    Peter
