MSP432E401Y: Socket TIME WAIT

Hi,

Is there a way to force a socket to close? I made an active FTP server that opens back-to-back sockets for each data transfer. I eventually get an error creating a socket. My guess is that I hit some socket limit in NDK. Where do I increase the limit? Not a great option due to limited RAM but maybe I can confirm the problem.

Ctx never exceeds 9 and once at 9 a new socket() fails.

Hello Mike,

Did you try the API "close"? It is supposed to remove a file descriptor that is created using "open". This is demonstrated in the example "./examples/rtos/MSP_EXP432E401Y/ns/tcpecho/" in the function "tcpWorker" in "tcpEcho.c".

Hi Sai,

I have been using close() on sockets. I think it may have been related to running out of sockets. I increased the socket max and the number of TIME_WAIT sockets seems to have gone down. Also increasing the size of the TCP buffers also seems to help.

Hello Mike,

I am glad you seem to have resolved the issue.

Both the number of sockets and the TCP buffer size would help. You will need to adjust those numbers to get the optimal numbers for the number of sockets you want open and the size of the TCP data.
