MSP430FR2633: MSP430FR2633: Captivate sample project for "High Sensitivity Proximity Panel"

Part Number: MSP430FR2633

Dear Team,

We have MSP430FR2633 CapTIvate MCU Development Kit.  I am exploring the Kit with following environment.

MSP Captivate Devices used for testing:
1) Captivate Programmer Rev C
2) Captivate FR2633 Rev C
3) Captivate High Sensitivity Proximity Panel

System Environment:

1) Operating System: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (64 bit, x86_64)

2) Design Center: 1.80.00.30-linux-x64
3) CCS: CCS9.0.00018_linux-64
4) JDK: 1.8.0_201

I have below doubts regarding usage of "Captivate High Sensitivity Proximity Panel". (Attached the image as reference )

1) Where do I start learning using your APIs, for writing code using CCS. Like sample Hello World, different APIs, etc.

2) Where do I refer any sample example for accessing Capacitance data from all three proximity sensors at a time ( Left , Center & Right Zone Sensors).

3) Using design studio I tried connecting this Board with Proximity sensor  and  following is my observation

- In Self / Mutual Capacitive mode, I always get Element Count as "1". I cannot increase the sensor element.

- Due to which at any time I get Capacitance values only from "Left Zone"

- How do I ensure I get Capacitance values from all the 3 sensors ( Left / Center / Right Zone Sensors).

Would like to hear from you.

Thank You

Sujit Shinde

  • Hi Sujit,

Launch CapTIvate Design Center, click Help->Topic, You will get everything you need.

  • Hi Sujit,

And unfortunately, The sensor board you shown (CAPTIVATE-PROXIMITY) is EOL.

If you still want to use this board, please install old Design Center version.

  • Hi Ling,

Thank you for the inputs. I have installed DesignCenter 1.60. and also ran the ProximitySensor Code Example using CCS. But, the issue is still not resolved.

I tried connecting this Board with Proximity sensor DesignCenter 1.60  and  my observation is same as above.

As shown in your Help Topics, I cannot find the "proximityGroupSensor" element in the DesignCenter, due to which I can only create 1 Proximity sensor at a time and hence data is received only from Left Zone sensors. I guess, this is the main problem, unable to locate / find proximityGroupSensor in the DesignCenter, hence cannot access all the Three zones at a time.

Appreciate your Inputs to resolve the issue.

Please find attached images to get better information.

    Thanks

    Sujit

  • Hi Sujit,

There is a example project in Design Center, File -> Open...

  • Hi Ling,

Thank you for detailed explanation. This resolved my issue. I am able to get the data values from each of the Left / Center / Right Sensor.

Also, would like to know following:

    1) What is the process to create the "proximityGroupSensor" as shown in above image.

    2) How do I extract Capacitance Change Value in picofarad for each of the Left / Center / Right Sensor.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Sujit,

Pleaese refer to workshop session of technology guide.

This is online version, you can also find the local version from Help->Topic.
