MSP430I2041: MSP430I2041 ADC ENOB and noise perfomance

Hi

we are planning to use the MSP430I2041 instead of ADS 1234 to save cost of the controller.When the datasheet is compared the ENOB and noise parameters is not there in the datasheet of  MSP430I2041. So could you please help on this and share the ENOB ,noise parameters of  MSP430I2041 as specified in ADS1234.Will the performance of  MSP430I2041 will be similar to ads1234 .

  • Hi Abin,

    in MSP430i2041 datasheet, you can find SINAD and THD values. Actually you can get ENOB from these two paremeter.

    Firstly, you can get SNR by: SNR = -10*log((10^(-SINAD/10)) - (10^(-THD/10));

    then, you can get ENOB by: ENOB = (SNR - 1.76dB) / 6.02.

    Or, if you find it's a little bit complicated, you can also replace the SNR by SINAD as they are pretty much close. So the ENOB is as (SINAD - 1.76dB) / 6.02.
