MSP430G2553: Dimmer Level push Button

I didn't find in the software examples a part of code that I can be used. My algorithm is not sample, I think that need to count each button event. for example, the code below doesn't have an intelligence necessary 
to perceive a slight pressure necessary to increase/decrease (up or down 10%) or a strong pressure (holding on) to directly turn on/off  :

Hi Alex,

You won't get pressure information with a binary switch. You could, however, measure how long the button is pressed.  In this case, you might setup a timer and check the state of the GPIO in an interrupt service routine for that timer.  If, for example, you set your timer to generate an interrupt every 50 milliseconds(20 times a second), you could increment a counter every time you sensed the button was pressed. (You could start your counter once you sensed the button was pressed.)

Hi Leo, after your advice, I did some tests this weekend. and I was observed that I need to find another MSP430 microcontroller. I used the timer A (channels 0 and 1) for PWM and I can't use the same timer A for the push-button switch, motivated by the fact that we have different time bases and also by the need to implement interrupt overflow (via TAIE) on timer A (in case of the push-button switch).

After I think that I need to find a Uc that has two timers (Timer A and Timer B). Does everyone believe I'm correct in my analysis?

The G2553 has two independent timers (both Type A): TA0 and TA1. Unless you need the features in a Type B timer (I suspect you don't) you should be able to use TA1 for your button timing.
