MSP432E411Y: Auto Install of Windows USB Drivers .inf / .cat files.. USB-Serial Driver

Part Number: MSP432E411Y
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C129ENCPDT

Hi Team MSP432E,

Looks like Windows USB Driver .inf files for MSP432E are included in the MSP432E SDK.  Do we also provide .cat files as part of the MSP432E SDK?

~Related .inf/.cat files for the TM4C129ENCPDT are available in the SW-TM4C-PATCH at http://www.ti.com/tool/SW-TM4C .

My customer is looking for a more automated way for their end-customers to update the USB (USB-Serial Driver) drivers in their product.. as opposed to, say, letting the install fail and then pointing to the updated .inf/.cat files ~manually.

In their words.. "I was hoping for an easier way to install the USB-Serial driver – preferably, an EXE file which would pre-load the driver, so when the customer plugs into our machine, the Virtual COM port is automatically installed (vs. manually going through the device manager)".  Do we provide anything (or any advice) for this type of capability?

Thanks, Merril

We don't provide .cat files in the MSP432E4 SDK. Why do you need them? Are the .inf files not enough?

We don't have an installer for installing the drivers. I have never come across this request. I will put in this request (to provide an installer for the drivers) so that it's looked into - this could or could not get accepted. Until then can the customer build their own installer for these drivers?

    Thanks,

    Sai

  • We will add the .cat files in the upcoming release - end of September 2019.

    Thanks,

    Sai
