CCS/CAPTIVATE-PGMR: Programmer 'bricked'?

If CCS show update or recovery, just select update or recovery.

Sorry for the late reply.

There are 2 MSP430F5528 on the CAPTIVATE-PGMR board. One for software download and the other for touch communication with CapTIvate Design Center.

It seems the firmware in those 2 F5528 of your board are crashed.

I would like to recommend you update firmware for both F5528.

For CDC communication one, please follow the steps : http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/CapTIvate_Design_Center/latest/exports/docs/users_guide/html/CapTIvate_Technology_Guide_html/markdown/ch_evm_CAPT_PGMR.html#usb-hid-serial-bridge-firmware-download and after you finished update. You can use CCS to update the other one.

Well, I already tried that, but did not work.
Tried it another time, still does not work.

I use the FirmwareUpgrader, and flash the CDC-Firmware, this is the console output of the updater:

This looks ok, then I open CCS und want to debug the "FR2676_CAPTIVATE-BSWP-Demo", but when it starts flashing the board, it stops like I already written above, that it needs to be recovered and so on ...

It seems you have to flash the firmware manually by JTAG and you need another FET.

Do you have any MSP430 Launchpad. The ez-FET on the Launchpad can used to download the firmware for MSP430F5528 on CAPTIVATE-PGMR.

Well Uniflash is not able to detect the Board.
I started uniflash as administrator, and also tried tried it it in the mode in which you get after pressing BDSL+RESET.

Any other Ideas?

Now I received a new programmer board.
Could you tell me what I have to do, to get the BSWP-Example Working?
I already tried the following:
Opened the CAPTIVATE-Design-Center, opened the BSWP-Example Project, then plugged in the USB into the programmer, and clicked 'connect'.

Then I get the following Error:
'HID Device detected, but could not connect to it'

The VID of the board is '2047', and the PID is '0965'

I pressed no buttons on the board ;)

What should I do?

Please unplug all other USB devices on your PC, and close CapTIvate Design Center, then reopen CapTIvate Design Center and plug PGMR.

I need to get this working fast!
Time is running out, we need to decide if we will use the Captivate MSP in an upcoming project or not.

And with an non-functional eval-kit, the decision would be clear ...

Hi Ling,

I tried a lot of things, and something did work, so I was able to use it with my own computer.
Today I restarted my Computer, after that I now get the same error when I want to connect the Captivate Center to the Eval-Kit ("HID device detected, but could not connect to it").
I can see there are two COM-Ports in the device manager ("MSP Application UART1" and 'MSP Debug Interface'), flashing the Eval-Kit trough CodeComposer Studio works fine.

Could please help me to find out why it isn't working anymore?

The Captivate technology looks really interesting for our project, but I can't use it in an real project if even the Eval-Kit does not work!!!
