MSP-FET430UIF: ttyACM0 is missing

Hi,

The MSP-FET430UIF is not attaching to ttyACM0 instead it is showing only in ttyUSB0,Can anybody tell what should be the problem and why the ttyACM0 is missing.

system spec: UBUNTU 16.04 I have tried the ls -la /dev/ttyACM* but it prompts that "there is no such file or directory".

Hello Hari,

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 and with my MSP-FET plugged in, it shows up as /dev/ttyACM0 and /dev/ttyACM1. Do you have the TI USB Drivers installed?

Hi James,

I had installed the drivers but it didn't solve the issue,so try with another FET and it shows in /dev/ttyACM0.

I think the another FET has some hardware issue Is it so?

It's definitely possible. Perhaps you could try updating the firmware on the MSP-FET that's not working. The easiest way to do that is using the latest version of Code Composer Studio (CCS) to program your MSP430 device. Before programming, CCS checks the firmware on the MSP-FET and if it's outdated, it will ask to update it. Try that and see if it resolves the connection issue. If it doesn't, then it's most likely a hardware issue.
