Hi All

Please let me know if Amazon freeRTOS supports the MSP432E401Y?

The AWS partner catalog lists only the CC3220SF microcontroller.

Will it be possible to port the Amazon freeRTOS to MSP432E401Y microcontroller?

We currently don't have support for Amazon FreeRTOS for MSP432E401Y. I will pass on this feedback so that we can add this item to our roadmap.

What are the challenges we might face in porting the amazon freeRTOS to MSP432E401Y?

What are the advantages of using amazon freeRTOS?

What are the differences between the libraries provided with amazon freeRTOS and freeRTOS? because both libraries look similar.

Hi Devi,

Sorry for the delayed response. Not sure I can accurately describe how hard it might be to port Amazon FreeRTOS to the MSP432E4. I can tell you that we also have support for AWS IoT C SDK in the form of TI's SimpleLink SDK Plugin for Amazon Web Services. http://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-SDK-PLUGIN-FOR-AWSIOT. This works with TI's SimpleLink SDK for the MSP432E4.

There are some feature differences between the Amazon FreeRTOS and AWS IoT C SDK. Mainly the services for Over The Air updates from AWS.

Amazon FreeRTOS is based on FreeRTOS so the RTOS is the same. Amazon FreeRTOS adds libraries for connecting to AWS IoT Core, PKCS APIs for security and the aforementioned OTA feature. A lot of the libraries for connecting to AWS IoT Core are the same or similar to the ones in AWS IoT Core. I believe AWS is working to align these libraries as much as possible and you can see their progress at https://github.com/aws/amazon-freertos and https://github.com/aws/amazon-freertos/releases
