CCS/MSP430F2274: "Unknown device"/"cannot connect to target" error

Hi 

What's your debugger?  Dose it MSP-FET? Have install the drivers for it?

Yes, I'm using the MSP-FET programmer/debugger. I installed the linked drivers and tried again, but received the same error.

Do you use the 38-pin Target Development Board(link) or use the hard ware you designed ?You would better to take some pictures of them.

If the hardware is designed by your self could compare the difference between your hardware and the  the 38-pin Target Development Board?You would better to send me the schematic and I can review it for you.

Have you try this with different PC?

I've tried all of this from a different computer just to be sure and I had the same problem.

I am not using a development board, but connecting to the MSP directly according to the diagram here, using an external 3V3 source:

You connecting to the MSP directly? Have you use the R1 and C1 on the reset pin?

Did you connect the PIN2 of the JTAG to the device VCC?

Can you take a picture of your connection?

Here are some images of my connections; R1, C2 and C3 are selected according to the pinout above, and C1 is currently set to 2.2nF.

Some comments here:

1.Check the DVCC AVCC and RST to be 3.3V(Test it on the device pins)

2. Connect DVSS and AVSS

3.If the power supply is ok, do have a logic analyzer or oscilloscope to capture the waves on TMS TCK TDO and TDI
