MSP430FR2155: Noise to the output port of MSP430

Genius 5840 points
Part Number: MSP430FR2155

Hello,

When noise is input during high output with MSP430, it appears that the output signal is temporarily low.
Is there any possibility that MSP430 will show some behavior when noise is input to the output port on MSP430FR2155?

Regards,

U-SK

  • Hi

Which kinds of noise do you put on the pins? Does the device reset by the noise?

How long  is the output signal temporarily low?

    Best regards

  • Hi Gary,

    Thank you for your reply.

    >Which kinds of noise do you put on the pins? Does the device reset by the noise?

    >How long  is the output signal temporarily low?

    I think emission noise.

I use MSP430FR2155 for signal processing in secondary side of switching power.

And when I input the noise with a pulse width of 1us is input between the AC line and ground every 22ms,

the output signal of MSP430FR2155 P3.3 pin temporarily low at 1 second intervals for 500ms.

When this phenomenon occurred, the RST pin and other pins were stable.

So I think that it is emission noise toward the signal line of P3.3.

P3.3 is directly connected to the base pin of the digital transistor(NPN), and a 100pF bypass capacitor is connected immediately before.

Is there any possibility of this behavior due to noise on the output pin?

  • Hi Gary,

Do you have any updates on my question?

  • Hi

Do you have a Launchpad or target board on your side to reproduce this issue?

    What's the  noise's  amplitude?

Can you make sure whether the MCU will reset by the noise?

    Best regards

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

    Thank you for your reply.

    >Do you have a Launchpad or target board on your side to reproduce this issue?

I can't reproduce this issue on EVM because this issue occurred on my custom board and I can't replace it.

    >What's the  noise's  amplitude?

The noise I input between the AC line and ground for testing is 2kV.

    >Can you make sure whether the MCU will reset by the noise?

I would like to confirm it.

Could you tell me confirm whether MCU has already reseted ?

  • Hi U-SK

1# Do you mean you have test it on the Launchpad but can't reproduce this issue?

2# You mean input the noise with a pulse width of 1us is input between the2kV and ground every 22ms ?

3# To check if your device reset you toggle a GPIO in the initialization code

    Best regards

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

    Thank you for your reply.

My issue is resolved because device was in reset state.

After clearing noises in power line, this problem was not occurred.
