CCS/MSP430I2040: Using EMDC on MSP430I2040

Part Number: MSP430I2040
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-I2040S

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello ,

I have generated code using EMDC for EVM MSP430i2040 and from CCS burned the code in EVM, but when connected to GUI (using DB-9 connector) not showing any measuring parameters?

Tried with sample code which is readily available in EMDC " EVM430-i2040S_SH_1V_1C_50Hz " . But not showing any data on GUI.

Please help me out.

Thanks,

Anuradha.

  • Hi Anuradha,

Are you able to step through the code and get into the communications portion of it? Once you're in there, do you see any communication signals coming from the device?

    Thanks,

    Mitch

  • Hi,

What I believe once I dump the code and power up the module , it should display measuring data on GUI.

    Am I wrong somewhere

    Thanks,

    Anuradha

    Hello,

How can I test result of EMDC generated code loaded in MSP430i2040 EVM submetering ver1.2.

Is it request basis response on uart or it should send continuous data o/p on uart?

Will it show any data on E-meter mass calibration software?

LED on EVM should get blinked or not after programming?

    Thanks,

    Anuradha.

  • Hi Anuradha,

I went ahead and merged the latest thread that you posted regarding EMDC on the MSP430I2040 to this thread since it is very similar to the support you are requesting here. Please try to keep support regarding the same issue or concept on the same thread that way there is a clear progression to a resolution. Thank you for your patience as Mitch looks into the issue further.

    Best regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Anuradha,

Sorry for the delay here. I think the issue stems from the RS-232 connection. Unfortunately, the DB-9 connector cannot be used for communication with EMDC. Please see picture below illustrating how to connect the EVM to the GUI:

    Thanks,

    Mitch
