Our MSP430FG4618 product page mentions that we are currently planning the next generation of this product.

Could you confirm that it's only related to the BGA MICROSTAR JUNIOR package? Does the LQFP version is still recommended for new design?

    Yes, that's correct. The LQFP package can still be used as before and isn't affected by this change.
