Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET
Okay guys (and especially George), I'm back from a sudden trip to a customer
site, and having more problems with CCS than ever.
Just before leaving on my trip, it occurred to me that my problem of a global
variable being position-dependent was likely due to some sort of corruption in
my CCS development environment. So I loaded CCS v9.2.0.00013 from scratch on my
trusty Lenovo laptop (Windows 7, same as my desktop) before I hit the road. But
I cannot even TEST it, because it does not allow me to program my target board.
Specifically, there is no "Run" menu at all, between the Project and Scripts
main menu bar items. "Run" is simply missing, even though Device Manager sees
my MSP-FET (as Com61 and Com62) whenever I plug it in. (Since there are NO
other comm ports on my laptop, I do wonder where those bizarre high comm-port
numbers are coming from.) I looked all over the TI website for a newer MSP-FET
device driver, but I couldn't find one.
So, now that I'm back from my trip and sitting in front of my powerful desktop
computer I try it again. I plug in the MSP-FET and now it doesn't work on my
desktop either! But the errant behavior is different -- the "Run" menu item
does appear as before, but when I try to Load the program with the MSP-FET, I
get a MessageBox that says CCS cannot find the MSP-FET at UART1 on Com65. On
my desktop computer, Device Manager says that the MSP-FET is Com47 and Com48,
so why is CCS looking for Com65 anyway?
Ideas? I'm now at the point where I am seriously considering trying 3rd party
tools like VisualGDB and Visual Studio again because they ALMOST worked before.
