MSP430F5659: RTC delay when reset

We noticed that the MSP's RTC gets delayed on every hard or soft reset. On a soft reset (software BOR), it gets delayed by about 300ms and on a hard reset (nRST pin asserted), it seems to be getting delayed by the amount of time the reset pin is asserted.

Is this normal behaviour?

Is there a way to avoid that?

Hi,

Actually the clock of MSP430 need some time to be stable.

How do you test this problem. What will it affect?

Can you post your code? I hope I can optimize it for you.

I found the cause of my issue. It was that automatic switching of the backup supply doesn't occur on a software BOR or when the nRST pin is asserted. The fix was to manually enable the backup supply (BAKCTL |= BAKSW) before triggering a reset.
