Dear all,

I am interfacing two micro through UARTS while both micros are in sleep mode it draws 2.2mA? Even though if I connect one I/O from one processor to another it draws around 300uA. Two micros that I am dealing with areMSP430F5438A and MSP430F4133.

Could you provide some details about this issue?

How did you measure this current?

What is the status of the unused I / O ports?

You can use our code example to test power consumption in LPM3 mode.

Dear Johnson,

Sorry I did not see your reply. I used multimeter to measure the current consumption. I am very familiar with MSP430 but your suggestion does not direct me to understand why when two micros are connected together the current consumption goes high. Per my previous post I am interfacing the UART of two processor together and put both processor in LPM3 mode and once in a while I send data from MSP430F5438A to MSP430F4133.

Hi Ali,

From your description, the current consumption of FR4133 and F5438 in the independent mode are abnormal. In the LPM3 mode, it should be about 2uA (excluding any external circuits).

Are you testing with our lanuchpad? Did you disconnect other circuits during the test?

At the same time, in order to avoid the leakage current of the pins, the unused pins need to be set to Input / Output and cannot be floating. You can refer to the following example code :
