Hi,

Now we are considering crystal circuit using. And we found design guid crystal circuit have series resistor, parallel resistor as figure 1 and 2. but TI not have(figure 3, TIDM-3PHMTR-TAMP-ESD ), so can you explain us for your design why do you not used resistors?

    Hi Motoyasu,

    As mentioned in the MSP430™ 32-kHz Crystal Oscillators app report, resistors can be used with the crystal circuitry for testing purposes to debug oscillator stability for example. These configurations are for testing purposes, the circuitry used on our EVM is the recommended circuitry for use in a customer's application. As you can see in Figure 1, the resistor footprints are purely for testing purposes because they are defaulted to not being connected ("NC").
