MSP430G2553: TSAL6400

I am working on IR communication using msp430g2553 with TSAL6400 as ir source and TSOP38338 as ir receiver. I am receiving the transmitted bit frame for 5m of distance and after 5m some of the bits are lost. How can I increase its range? I am using NEC protocol.

Is the MSP430 working as expected? It sounds like the signal from the TSOP38338 is dropping out, is that correct?

MSP430 (TX) is working fine. But TSOP38338 can detect signal only upto 5 meters of distance and after 5m some of the transmitted bits lost and I couldn't receive the whole bit frame at Rx.

Hello,

Glad to hear the MSP430 is working fine. I'm not very familiar with the IR LEDs and Receivers or how to increase range. I would imagine that a higher power LED and possibly an IR Filter over the receiver would help increase range.

Since there are no MSP430 related questions, I'm going to mark this thread as resolved but it will still be open for the community to add any personal experience on this topic.
