Hi everyone.

I see that MSP430FR6047 device has not a FRAM Information Memory Segment.

Why?

If this device will use as a single chip US meter, where will information (parameters, total VFR etc.) saved in?

Sholuld I use external EEPROM or FRAM mem?

Hi Mesut,

There isn't a dedicated Information Memory Segment because the integrated FRAM can be used to efficiently store and retrieve this information. There's no need for an external EEPROM.

Thank you for reply.

I can perform r/w operation with FRAMCtl_A_xxx functions.

For ex. supposing that I would write one byte post-initialization parameter (for ex. circuit Serial number) to 0x30000 address (Extended Main Memory Block 3).

is there a chance overwriting this parameter when new firmware download to device? I think that if device would own any user info memory segment, there is no problem with overwriting.

am I wrong?

Hi Mesut,

The memory map can be found in table 6-47 of the datasheet. The TLV would be an area that does not get written to as this is written at manufacturing, but otherwise it is up to the user.

The blog post below might be a way to retain a section of FRAM when loading new firmware.
