MSP432P401R: ERROR 72: Clear locked MCU failed.

Hello,

I'm programming the MCU using MSP-GANG Programmer.

After program upload device is working correctly. There are no problems during program upload. (Assuming cabling and connection is correct)

I'm also securing JTAG/SWD using password file generated by MSP432P4XX Security and Update tool setting password in JTAG/SWD Lock.

I can't perform factory reset. When click Clear Locked Device I got ERROR 72: Clear locked MCU failed. I can't find information about this error.

Is it possible to perform factory reset without konwing the password?

If i know the password, should it be possible to perform factory reset without problems?

    Hi Maciek,

    Yes this is possible. You will need to follow the steps "as described" in Code Composer Studio™ 7.1+ for SimpleLink MSP432 chapter 8.1 Factory Reset Without Password.

    Thank you for fast reply!

    Unfortunately I got MSP-FET430UIF and error: "CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: MSP432 devices are not supported using the MSP-FET430UIF".

    Is there procedure to clear msp432P401R using one of my tools: MSP Gang Programmer, MSP-FET430UIF?

    What is weird, I _HAVE_ password file that have been used during programming MCU and I still can't clear it. This ERROR 72 still comes and I can't find description for it.

    Shouldn't this button "Clear locked device" on Gang GUI perform Factory reset?

    I have borrowed MSP-FETFlash that supports msp432 and this is result:

    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: DAP is locked or wrong debug protocol selected.
    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: The Debug Interface to the device has been secured
    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: DAP is locked or wrong debug protocol selected.
    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: The Debug Interface to the device has been secured
    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: DAP is locked or wrong debug protocol selected.
    CORTEX_M4_0: Error connecting to the target: DAP is locked or wrong debug protocol selected.
