Hello,

I have developed my own board by taking inspiration from evm430-fr6043 for one of my application and I am using 2 wire Jtag to program it. Now I want to use Ultrasonic Design center GUI for setting the parameters. Please guide me for an appropriate code which can let me use the GUI with my MSP430 application board.

The code which is used to communicate with the GUI is available below. Use the "demo application" for GUI communication. I have provided links for both the water and gas demos as the FR6043 can support both.

Hello Eddie,

Thanks for the link but I have a question that what do you mean by demo application because as suggested by you I have downloaded the " UltrasonicGasFR6043_02_20_00_12" and programmed my Board with it but still I am unable to communicate via USS design center GUI.Is there any other GUI you were pointing towards.

You have the correct demo application. Yes, there is only 1 USS design center GUI. Be sure you are also using the latest GUI version, 2.20.00.19.

How is your board connected to the PC? On the EVM430-FR6043, the MSP430FR6043 communicates to the HID bridge via I2C(P1.6, P1.7, P1.4). The HID bridge communicates to the PC via USB.

Are you connecting your board to the HID bridge on an EVM430-FR6043? You could do this by connecting P1.6(SDA), P1.7(SCL), and P1.4(IRQ) to the J1 header of the EVM430-FR6043. To do this, you should remove the jumpers from J1 and connect SDA, SCL, and IRQ to the corresponding pins which are labeled with silkscreen to the HID bridge side of the J1 header.

If you have included the HID bridge on your PCB, the MSP430F5528 would need to be programmed for the HID bridge to work. We don't typically provide this code. Another alternative could be to use the HID bridge on the CAPTIVATE-PGMR board below. As described above, connect the SDA, SCL, and IRQ pins to J301 of this board and the USS GUI should be able to connect.

Hello Eddie,

I have been using the board without the HID bridge via I2C(P1.6, P1.7, P1.4). I am communicative via 2 wire Jtag connection to the IC via MSP-430FET430UIF. Will this code let me communicated via GUI through this configuration.

Aishwarya,

You will need the HID bridge to connect to the GUI. If you don't have a EVM-FR6043 or EVM430-FR6047 which you can utilize the HID bridge from, the CAPTIVATE-PGMR is the easiest and lowest cost method to get the HID bridge.

You can find the schematic of the board and J301 connector below. You would need to connect to BRIDGE_SDA, BRIDGE_SCL, and MCU_IRQ of the J301 connector.
