MSP430FR2311: MSP430FR DAC

Part Number: MSP430FR2311
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR2355, MSP430FR2353

Hello,

I am new to the MSP430FR.

On the MSP430FR2311, can I route a DAC  signal out?

Is it correct to say that a DAC can be routed out the smart analog combo SAC module but not through the eCOMP module?

I need small physical size.

Can the MSP430FR2355 do it?

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

in terms of using the DAC signal externally with the SAC and the MSP430FR2311 I can make the following statements. The so-called SAC functionality of the FR2311 is quite a different one compared to MSP430FR2353, which contains 4 full functionality SAC blocks.

Please find here a picture of the available modules and interconnections.

As you can see, there is only the eComp DAC available. This can feed in signals into the eComp, while the eComp output can then be connected to an output, but you can't use the eComp DAC signal at a device pin.

If you would like to utilize the DAC signals at a device pin, the MSP430FR235x sub-portfolio would be the right selection. Please see the below picture.

There you could use one of the Operational amplifiers in unity gain buffer mode, to switch out the DAC signal to a device pin.

    Best regards

    Peter
